Reese/Sachs Recital at Lynn University |

Cleveland Orchestra principal
trumpeter Michael Sachs and
Empire Brass trumpeter Marc Reese shared a
recital at Lynn University on January
27th. Both played solo works with artist
faculty pianist Lisa Leonard as
well as solos with Lynn's trumpet
ensemble. The trumpet ensemble opened
the concert with a tight and expressive

Reese has been named the new assistant
dean of the Conservatory of Music at
Lynn University. The head of the
conservatory's brass department since
2005, Reese will continue in that

with the Lynn University Philharmonia in
February The piece was commissioned by
Lynn University to celebrate Lynn's

final rounds of the first annual Armando
Ghitalla International Trumpet Classic
took place in Pittsfield Massachusetts
from September 28 through October 1
2006. There were 4 finalists competing
for the $7500 prize. The finalists were
Ethan Bensdorf, Adam Bhatia, Gareth

Reese Performed with the Oregon Mozart

Oregon where he performed Shostakovich's Concerto for
Piano, Trumpet and Strings with his wife, pianist Lisa

Empire Brass Tours

The Empire Brass has just returned from a highly
successful two week tour of Asia. This season's Asian
tour took the group to Guangzhou, Macau, Taiwan, and
Kuala Lumpur. Organist Douglas Major joined the Empire
Brass for Baroque Brass and Organ concerts. Additional
international tours this season include Bolivia in April
